Another rigorous abs work out seen in boxing gyms is the hanging leg raise. To perform this exercise, a boxer hangs from a pull-up bar and raises his or her knees to work the lower abs. To increase this intensity of this exercise, the legs can be raised without bending the knees. The legs can also be raised to alternate sides of the body. Legs should be slowly raised to the waist level. This abs work out should create a burn in the stomach muscles in very little time.

Leg raises can also be done while lying on the floor or a bench. This is one of the more common workouts for abs among boxers. The legs should be kept together and straight while they are raised as high as possible. A variation on this exercise is to raise the legs only a few inches off the floor and hold the position. The legs can be held in this position longer as the abs get stronger.

For those people looking for an abs work out that is less intense, a twist on the basic crunch could be the answer. The crunch is one of the best stomach toning exercises and boxers make crunches a little more fun to do. Boxers often do the crunch by touching an elbow to the opposite knee as they come up in the crunch. Several repetitions give the entire core more of a workout than a basic abs crunch.

These best stomach workouts will probably not make you the next boxing champion like Sugar Ray Leonard, but they may make your stomach muscles feel like they have gone a few rounds with one. The boxing world certainly has some of the best stomach exercises to punch up your fitness regimen.
